Paper Clips, Steel Posts…They’re All the Same

January 27, 2012

If you’re as frightened of dentists and dental procedures as I am, you would have had to have had some pretty traumatizing experiences at some point in your life, most likely your childhood.  There are few places that give me more anxiety than the dentist’s office.  And this story doesn’t help at all.

Some people are really uncreative, and use paperclips the way they were meant to be used: to hold paper together.  But, that seems so boring.  Thankfully, there are others who are much more imaginative than the average Joe, and they really take paperclip usage to the next level, making an effort to really think out of the box (and into your mouth).

This dentist, who I will absolutely under no circumstances ever go see, decided it was better to use paperclips during root canals than the standard steel posts.  Now, let me just state that I have absolutely no idea what the steel posts are used for, and I hope to never know.  So I don’t REALLY understand what’s going on here.

However, apparently, it makes no difference, and this is a great money-saver for the guy.  Furthermore, when you weigh the pros and cons of spending excess money on safe and sterile steel posts vs. saving money, using paperclips, and risking infection, the paperclips win out every time.  I mean, it is a rough economy.

In my mind, this is further proof that all dentists are evil and are out to hurt people.  I’m giving 12 bananasss out of 7 for this crazy, crazy, crazy, evil man.

Hahaha. A post is stuck in the gums to keep the tooth core in place.

Ugh. Gross enough as it is. Even worse when you add paper clips to the picture.

Definitely. I know good dentists though, that don’t cut corners. Lucky me!!

Are you sure? I would double check and see what kind of tools they have next time you go in!! Just for safety’s sake.

Well, they aren’t dentists quite yet, they will be around this summer or fall.
